When redundancy struck I was a conventional stockbroker peddling foreign markets to fund managers", said Dewhirst.

"With the company I have launched I am the legal and compliance officer, investment strategist, economist, quantitative analyst, computer programmer, web designer, IT project manager, sales director and general dogsbody."
